The Association of Inclusive Culture was founded in 2010 in Ljubljana, Slovenia, with the aim of implementing inclusive activities for individuals with special needs and those without, with a focus on children and young people. Our mission is to promote and actively develop an inclusive culture in the fields of sports, culture, leisure time, and other activities. We are dedicated to ensuring equal rights for children, young people, and adults with special needs, as well as those with typical development. We work with individuals who have autism, ADHD, intellectual disabilities, and/or emotional and behavioral problems, who are often marginalized from active social life due to a lack of opportunities to participate. Our society’s activities promote inclusive culture and socialization among children and adolescents from diverse educational, cultural, and social backgrounds.
Our approach is centered around connecting people with and without special needs through sports, games, and cultural activities, and by spending quality free time together. We are committed to upholding important values such as respecting human rights and equal opportunities, fighting against discrimination, active citizenship, and participation in society. Our association is comprised of over 100 members, including youth workers, professionals, students, pupils, teachers, and parents from Slovenia and abroad. We work with various professionals from fields such as sport pedagogy, special education, psychology, medicine, art, and social work. We also collaborate with local organizations, clubs, public bodies, and special education centers such as The Special Education Center Janez Levec Ljubljana, which is the largest special education center in Slovenia for children, young people, and adults with special needs. Our goal is to continue to promote and foster an inclusive culture that celebrates diversity and provides equal opportunities for all. We carry out two fundamental programs, Special Sportster (adapted exercise programs for people with special needs) and Social Inclusion Program (occupational therapy for young adults with special needs). In addition to these two programs, we have many projects that complement these activities.
