INCLUSION AND SPORT

Inclusion and the possibility of implementing it in sports is the idea behind INME (Include Me). The three partners, Athlitikos Syllogos Asterias, Murgano Enna Nuoto and Društvo za Kulturo Inkluzije met on the 19th and 20th of April in Greece where we had an overview of the project, its implementation and its results. On the second day (20th April) we attended the final conference organized by Athlitikos Syllogos Asterias when the project and its results were presented to citizens, athletes, sport stakeholders and parents of the local community.

In a nutshell, inclusion in sports is found at a level which requires improvement and development. Sport professionals should be aware of the need to realise inclusion in their regular training/practicing a sport. What is more, there should be motives for the acquisition of specified knowledge and skills to deal with people with special needs during their inclusion in sports, so that they be treated as equally as possible with the rest of the team. Hopefully, the questionnaire results proved that we are all willing to work positively towards this direction.
