As mentioned in one of our previous posts, we integrated one of our athletes into judo training at Judo Club Tatami in Ljubljana, Slovenia. The boy with Down syndrome seamlessly integrated into the group during a period of 5 sessions and thoroughly enjoyed learning new skills.
Consequently, along with the coaches and club leadership, we decided to continue with the training. He now attends sessions once a week with a volunteer who helps him by more challenging exercises. Often, the volunteer simply observes how well the boy has integrated into the group!
In the future, we aspire to see more of such good practices, aiming to include numerous children with special needs in mainstream sports clubs.
